Tutorial how to use Éňo-ňůňo sampler:

There are four buttons on the sampler which are used to trigger the samples and also walk through the menu. When the Menu Switch is turned off the buttons are used to perform the samples. Different combination of the button presses will play different sample which gives you possibility to trigger 15 different samples. To set up the samples you use the Menu. So if you turn on the Menu Switch you are in the menu. Use Button 3 and 4 to walk through the menu. If you change the possition in the menu and sound should tell you where you are.

The Pot 1,2 and 3 are used to control the parameters of the sound and the Pot Mode Switch changes their function at some points.

The Menu:

1. Preset - the sampler can store 11 presets-15 sounds each. To change the preset move the Pot 1. The LEDs will show you the number of the preset in binary code and the sound should tell you which preset are you going to load. To load preset press the Button 3. First press of the button tells you that you are going to “Load” the preset and the second tells you “Loaded” which means you loaded the preset. The same goes with Button 4 which is used for saving the preset (first press says “Save” and the second says “Saved“.

2. Sound -in the second step of the menu you set up the sound you want to edit-or more precisely the combination of button presses to make desired sample. You chose the sound by turning the Pot 1. Buttons 3 and 4 enable you to copy and paste the sound with the parameters the same way you load and save the presets in the Preset part of the menu.
3. The third part of the menu has two modes acording the state of the Pot Mode switch.

  • When the Pot Mode switch is OFF you are in the Letters menu. Here you set the sample for the button combination you choosed earlier. The samples on the SD card should be in mono in *.WAV format. And the format of the name should be three letters using just leters 0-9 and A-F (ex. 03B.WAV or 00A.WAV). The samples should be 16bit and the sample rate should be 22.5 kHz but also can be 44.1kHz but than the pitch up function is disabled. In the “Letters” menu you choose the sample from the SD card so the Pot 1 chooses the first letter of the sample, Pot2 chooses the second letter and Pot3 chooses the third letter and plays the sample. With Button 1 and 2 you play the sample again.
  • When the Pot Mode swich is ON the voice anounces “Volume, Shift Mode, LFO Mode” which is what you set by Pot 1, 2 and 3 in this mode. With changing the Volume you can lower the volume of played sample in 8 steps. The Shift Mode sets the way the shift function is used (shift forward, shift backward, changing the direction randomly with lower probability and with higher probability) and LFO Mode sets the way LFO moves the pitch (triangle, ramp up, ramp down and random).

4. the fourth step of the menu has also two sub-modes where you set to most important parameters.

  • When the Pot Mode switch is OFF you are in the “Lenght, Shift, Start” menu which was announced to you by the voice. These parameters are again adjusted by Pot 1, 2 and 3. The lenght parameter changes the the Lenght of played sample. When it is set to 0 it won’t change the lenght. The Start function sets the starting point to play the sample and enables the looping mode so it loops the sample from the starting point and the lenght of the loop is set by the Lenght parameter set before. The shift function is shifting this loop through the sample or in other words it changes the starting point. By adjusting it you change the speed of the shifting.
  • When the Pot Mode swich is ON you are in the “Pitch and LFO Mode” . The Pot 1 sets the Pitch of the sample, Pot2 changes the amount of the LFO applied to the Pitch and Pot 3 adjusts the speed of the LFO.

5. The fifth step of the menu is the “Play Mode” . With Pot1 you adjust it. It has 4 options. In the “zero” the sound is played until you hold its button combination. In “one” the sample is being looped until you release the button combination. In “two” the sample continous the playback after releasing the button combination and plays to the end and in “three” the sample continous looping endlesly.

6. The sixth step of the menu is called “Make Preset” which makes faster to make the preset. You set just first two letters of the sample and the third letter is changing with the button combination. By pressing Button 1 or 2 you set the whole preset with this function.

When the menu is turned off you can change the same parameters as in the fourth part of the menu for all the samples that are being played. When the Pot Mode switch is turned off you set the lenght, shift and start and when it is turned on you adjust the Pitch and LFO. By turning the Pot 1 up and to zero you disable this function. You should do this in both Pot Modes to disable it.

The last switch that need explanation is the Alter Mode Switch. It works simillar to the make preset function and enables you to have almost infinite number of presets which you can prepare in your computer by saving the sound with desired name. In Alter Mode if you enter the Menu it has just to modes according the Pot Mode Switch position. If the Pot Mode is turned off you set up the first two letters of the sample by Pot 1 and Pot 2 and you can check the sounds by Pot3. Then if you turn of the Menu Switch the samples third letter is spread around the button combinations. If you are in the menu and the Pot Mode is turned On you set up the Play Mode, Shift Mode and LFO Mode by Pot 1, 2 and 3.

The DC adaptor should be 9-12V and positive polarity
