Rušička superpozice [Superposition Störsender]
installation 2012

Superposition is state of any particle (in this case photon of wavelength 532 nano-meters) where you cannot say if it is a wave or a particle. By trying to find out you actually direct the particle to behave in a specific way. This fact from quantum physics strengthens even more the relativist view of an artwork and works as a metaphor for a process where the observer determines the object of his observation.
Superposition Jammer installation shows one of the basic experiments that prove the quantum theory. Two polarized filters angled 90 degrees to each other should avoid any light passing through. If third polarized filter, angled 45 degrees, is put in between these, the light suddenly starts passing through. This is possible, because the light starts to behave as a wave entity. No longer as a photon particles, the superposition is gone and we are in the quantum world of wood.
With the colophonium smell and the soldering irons, the installation serves as a manifesto of Standuino project, in which electronics folk creativity of Eastern European region is appreciated more, than media arts of the Western world.

Monument
wall painting 2012

In the phase of a concept, the Standuino project was designed as a living memorial of DIY pioneers of Eastern Europe region. The wall painting by Johana Merta depicts this living memorial in a form of a dead monument (inspired by socialist monuments) in far future.

Klackový klávesy [ Kleben keyboard ]
musical instrument 2012

The concept of keyboard from wooden sticks was mentioned by Standa Filip as his first electronic keyboard instrument built in 1976.  As many others, this instrument was lost or Standa gave it to somebody. Anyway, he doesn`t remember now who was it. Standuino team remade this thought and created functional imaginative replica of such keyboard instrument. The use of rough wood is characteristic for the poetics of the Standa`s musical instruments.

Untitled
wall painting 2012

Ondřej R. Homola, designer of most of the pictures and visuals in the Standuino project, creates fresh drawings full of humour. This illustration was made specifically for this exhibition. In his work, he truthfully reflects the state of society in contemporary Czechoslovakia.

selfDestroy();
Installation 2012

selfDestroy(); in the sense of this formula happens only when always ever increasing entity of time would suddenly become zero. In theory of big bang one can see that the time originated in the same moment as space. This theory also predicts the big crunch if there is too much matter in the universe.

In the digital world event is predictable if we know the structure of digital data which is limited and is not endless because every digital number has certain amount of bits, ones and zeros, that describe its value. Time value in this case is long data type which means it has 32 bits. It is increased by 1 every millisecond and displayed on 32 leds in the lower part of the device.

These LEDs are showing the value which measures the time since the microchip is active and which is stored into memory.When all off the LEDS became 1 it is just one millisecond to jump back to 0. In this very moment the selfDestroy(); function will be called. It is the moment of overflow the beginning of new life or afterlife for a microchip. In this moment the voltage in the circuit will be increased which will probably cause the microchip to burn. This will happen in exactly 49,7 days after of life of the microchip.

void loop(){
delay(1);
time++;
if(time==0){
selfDestroy();
}
saveAndDisplay();
}

Krabice po Bastlíři [ box nachdem bastelman ]
found object 2012

This box, found in February 2012, belonged for sure to someone, who was doing a lot of things on his own. This person is probably dead and the widow put this box in the backyard of a house so someone could find it and use it. We always use some of the cables from this box for our installations.
